Hey everyone,

Roughly three months ago, I unveiled Black Halo Interactive and announced my plan to create an interactive story. I've been working hard on the project, but haven't shared any updates on it yet. The reason? There just wasn't much to share.

I was really struggling with the basic world building aspects of the project and only recently (couple of weeks ago) settled on what I wanted to do. I'm well underway, but there's still more work to be done in this department. In this official first blogpost I'd like to share some of my core plans with you all.

The interactive story, which I've renamed to The Ornalis Project for now, is going to be a science fiction story that combines western and post-cyberpunk aesthetics with the mythological, Old Irish/Celtic stories of the Tuatha Dé Danann. I always knew I wanted to write something sci-fi, but just couldn't decide what to do. In a moment of clarity I thought to myself: why don't I combine the things I like and see if I can make it work?

I fell in love with westerns (especially movies) when I was a kid and developed an interest into post-cyberpunk through Eidos Montreal's Deus Ex: Human Revolution. I've been to Dublin (Ireland) twice and it just felt right for me to be there. I can't really explain why, but I felt a connection to the country and its people. To me, it was only logical to incorporate an Irish connection.

Before I wrap up I want to share my plans for the release. Although the final product is still ways out, you might be interested to know that I'm currently working on a prototype/proof of concept of The Ornalis Project. This prototype encompasses the first chapter of the story. It will allow you to experience what I'm working on and will allow me to see if I should stay on course or (slightly) change direction. Win-win right?

That's all I wanted to share with you today. Hit me up on Twitter, LinkedIn or via email if you have questions or just want to get in touch.

All the best,
